EMDR
EMDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a process in which an individual meets one-on-one with a certified and licensed EMDR therapist to treat a wide range of diagnoses and issues. EMDR is a structured therapy based on the theory of Adaptive Information Processing where it is believed that we process experiences by connecting and integrating them with already present memory networks. In EMDR, the client briefly focuses on the traumatic memory, while simultaneously utilizing bilateral stimulation. The purpose of EMDR is to reconsolidate the memory in a more helpful way. EMDR is one of the most studied treatments for PTSD and has been known to be effective for other diagnoses such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, eating disorders, and more.
